About:
Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof (working title) is an operation on words, an arrangement of systems of attuning and amplification, beyond polishing forms of language. How do we deal with untranslatable words? What happens when the mother tongue is not enough to express a thought and there seems to be no right equivalent in a foreign language? Looking into actions/contexts into which the language is woven, the project examines how we tune into words, how we inhabit and resonate with them and how easy it is to fall into the gaps of their form.

Bio:
Monika Orpik (b.1997) is a visual artist from Poland, based in Hamburg. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from London College of Communication. She is currently pursuing MA in Photography at Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg. Since March 2022 she has been a member of ABC (Artists’ Books Cooperative).
