Vanessa Pistilli
Title: Forget me not (a self portrait)
Duration: 2 min (loop)
Material: Video
Year: 2022
About:
Forget me not (a self portrait) is the title of my video installation. It represents those
intimate moments that we all take to reflect, when we hide in our mind without being
afraid that no one will listen to us, free to be ourselves. The person in the video
appears without clothes, naked, in a room immersed in deep black, as deep are her
thoughts. A body that wants to be desired, loved, photographed but at the same time
unsure of itself and how it appears to others, hidden, invisible. A shapeless body in a
room without color but asking to be painted.
At the end of the video the viewer has a fundamental role as active participants of the
protagonist's mind, spying on her intimacy we are caught at the end of the video.
Bio:
Vanessa Pistilli (1998) is a student of the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. Her
research develops above all in the field of the visual arts, such as photography, video,
drawing and - recently – the digital animations. From the first approach, she
perceived the revolutionary soul of art and its constantly expanding that is the basis
of these artistic expressions, thus deciding to adopt their languages. Within her
works, the theme of the inner self recurs frequently, telling about itself through
constant video experimentation e photography. In 2019 she participates in the
Convergenze Expo exhibition with “Shadows”, a series of photos that investigates the
fears and anxieties of the soul human, and in 2022 she had another experience in
iHamburg with the exhibition “Rapid Rabbit”
